From Baking Cakes to Baking Smiles

I'd like to take a moment to share the heartwarming journey of how Sweet Chay's Pastries transformed from a simple cake business into a beacon of hope for our local aspins and puspins.

This beautiful journey began during the challenging days of April 2020, a time when the world was grappling with the pandemic. While most businesses were forced to hit pause, our little cake business kept on delivering joy to families celebrating their special moments. Birthdays became more than just weekends; they were celebrated with love and cake on the very day they arrived.

But as I continued to spread happiness, I couldn't help but notice the plight of our stray furry friends on the streets. Their struggles became increasingly visible, and my heart ached to see them suffer. That's when a decision was made - a percentage of our earnings would be dedicated to feeding and caring for these beautiful souls.

You see, I grew up in a house surrounded by nature's wonders - fruit-bearing trees, dogs, cats, pigeons, roosters, and hens that provided us with warm, organic eggs each morning. It was a world filled with animals, and my heart learned to love and cherish them from an early age.

My loving grandma played a significant role in shaping my compassion for animals. Her nurturing spirit and kindness towards all living creatures left an indelible mark on my heart. Every day, I'm reminded of her as I care for these four-legged angels. It's a beautiful way to honor her memory and carry forward the legacy of love and empathy she instilled in me.

Fast forward to today, I'm proud to say that I've continued my advocacy to help and feed our local aspins and puspins, especially those living on the streets. A portion of our earnings from Sweet Chay's Pastries goes not only to them but also to the feeding and care of our 17 rescued cats and 2 rescued dogs, along with the stray dogs that visit at night, seeking shelter and sustenance, especially during rainy nights or scorching days.

In January 2023, I had the privilege of joining the incredible BFH-AWA (BF Homes Animal Welfare Advocate) community, which is an affiliate of CARA Welfare Phils and is officially registered with the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission). Being part of this amazing group, volunteering at Kapon Events, and feeding our community strays have filled my heart with boundless joy.

So, why do I love being an animal advocate? Because it allows me to give back to these innocent souls who bring so much happiness to our lives. Because it's a way of continuing the love and compassion I learned from my beloved grandma. And because it connects me with incredible people who share the same passion for making this world a better place for all living creatures.

Thank you all for being a part of this journey, and together, let's keep spreading love, one paw at a time!
